Essential Functions:

As a member of the FCCP Triage Team, the FSP is responsible for engaging families, in partnership with the Triage Team FSCCs, in FCCP services to assist with the stabilization and initial assessment of assigned cased. The Team will work with families with children at risk for abuse and neglect, at risk of psychiatric hospitalization, with Serious Emotional Disturbance, as well as with youth with or at risk for juvenile justice/wayward involvement and/or exiting the RI Training School. The FSP will work directly with families, youth, their natural supports, DCYF staff, and other community providers to stabilize and ensure effective linkages to needed support and/or treatment services. Responsible to assist the Triage Team FSCCs in resolving crises and stabilizing families sufficiently for transition, or transfer to longer term FCCP Wraparound facilitators, within 30 days. The Triage Team FSP may provide direct support and services for some families including practical assistance necessary for them to enroll in and engage with other needed services. The FSP's involvement with families is by family choice, as some familiar may either choose not to have a FSP or may not require it. The length of involvement is different with each family as the FSP's role is to empower the family toward self-efficacy but will be limited to the initial 30 days.

Qualifications:

The FSP is a peer mentor and must have personal experience caring for a child with serious emotional disturbance (SED) or a developmental disability (DD) and/or who has been personally involved with child welfare services or juvenile corrections.
Knowledge and competencies needed to effectively support another parent or caregiver needed.
Experience working in professional settings and/or part of multi-disciplinary teams is preferred.
Wraparound training and certifications are required, but will be provided in-service during the first year of employment.
Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed to meet client and program needs.
Must be fluent in both English and Spanish.
