The AmeriCorps Members in FSRI’s AmeriCorps Attendance Improvement Matters (AIM) Program will serve in the role of Walking School Bus Specialist. Members will be assigned to serve in one of three elementary schools in Providence. The AmeriCorps members will serve as Walking School Bus Route support staff. Each Member will provide support related to attendance, social emotional behavior; engagement with families; and provide support to students, families and school staff to help improve school attendance. Members will participate in ongoing training, have opportunities for team-building and reflection, and will be fully supported by Family Service of RI staff to ensure success.

The Attendance Improvement Matters (AIM) Program through AmeriCorps at FSRI is an ideal opportunity for college students looking for volunteer hours, senior citizens looking to give back to the community, or parents working to financially support their children in college.

Qualifications:

Have experience with and/or commitment to child and family development.
A strong passion for national and community service.
The desire to work with diverse people, organizations and communities.
Positive attitude, flexibility and adaptability.
Excellent organization and communication skills.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Previous experience, education or training in child development, human services or education is a plus but not required.
Ability to speak a second language- in addition to English- is a plus, but is not required.
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent US Resident.
Must be age 18 or over.
AmeriCorps Service Requirements:

Quarter-time AmeriCorps members: Complete the program year (ends 6/17/22) and provide a minimum of 450 hours of documented service
Attend all required AmeriCorps training and learning sessions including National Service Days/events
Up to 5 additional hours a month
Complete all required AmeriCorps documentation
AmeriCorps Service Benefits:

Segal AmeriCorps Education Award: $1,678.57*
(earned upon successful completion)
Opportunity for professional development training
*If 55 years or older education award can be gifted to a child or grandchild

Schedule to be determined upon enrollment in the program. Typical hours: M-F 8am-9:15am / 3:00pm-4:15pm.
