ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Community Engagement Coordinator is a vital member of the backbone agency responsible for stakeholder and resident engagement and participation; community building; identification of assets and needs; assessment of community impact through collecting data and supporting the goals of the Providence 02905 Health Equity Zone (HEZ). The Community Engagement Coordinator is primarily responsible for relationship building with existing HEZ partners, recruitment of new organizations, individuals and other stakeholders, disseminating information and collecting data; scheduling and facilitating HEZ meetings and attending RIDOH meetings as necessary outlined in the project. Works in collaboration with the HEZ Project Director to ensure progress toward initiative activities and goals are met.


Support the Project Director in providing leadership to the Providence 02905 HEZ collaborative.
Engage community support and involvement in HEZ collaborative; manage existing partnerships and recruit new partners, residents, and stakeholders.
Provide meeting organization and facilitation for the initiative in coordination with Project Director.
Facilitate regular work group meetings to develop strategies and action plans specific to areas of focus.
Ensure initiative activities align with goals.
Attend all meetings relating to HEZ including meetings at RIDOH as representative for the Providence 02905 HEZ as needed.
Work with Project Director to produce timely and high-quality reports and correspondence as required by project.
Build and maintain positive, working relationships with funders, community organizations and all partners and act as a community liaison.
Work with Project Director to identify potential funding sources for HEZ goals and priorities, and for sustainability of the initiative.
Attend supervision as scheduled.
Maintain accurate and accessible reports, files and statistics as required by the initiative.
Perform additional responsibilities consistent with initiative needs and other duties as assigned.


Formal education, or relevant certification and/or related experience in community engagement.
Critical thinking skills, creativity and flexibility in meeting changing priorities and demands; attention to detail; identifying and resolving obstacles to improvement/goals.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Familiarity with the 02905 area and/or goals of the HEZ initiative.
Ability to provide culturally competent services.
Experience building and maintaining relationships internally and externally with community partners.
Demonstrated ability to organize self and others.
Ability to work independently and to take initiative; to prioritize and to proceed logically.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires:

Travel within the community, to and from agency site locations, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.
Ability to work a nontraditional work schedule to include some nights and weekends.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work in person and remotely.
Ability to manage various software platforms and databases.
