Position Summary: We are seeking a fundraising professional who is confident, self-assured, and proud of their individuality to be our Director of Development. This Director will oversee individual giving across fundraising channels, including major gifts, planned giving, annual appeals, events, volunteer management, and peer-to-peer fundraising.

Building upon a strong base of donors, the Director will lead, design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive strategy to grow and cultivate major gifts support, expand the annual giving and planned giving programs, and oversee the organizations special events and grassroots fundraising programs. The Director will work in close collaboration with the Vice President for Advancement, the CEO, the Communications and Marketing Manager, the Board of Directors, and other team members.

Responsibilities: You will work with the Vice President of Advancement, the FSRI Board of Directors to set annual fundraising goals; and you will plan, develop, implement, and lead fundraising activities to ensure adequate funding for operational, program, and special projects.



Leadership:

Lead teams to institutionalize a culture of philanthropy within FSRI and its affiliates.
Support board committees, task forces, and advisory councils that have fundraising as part of their focus, and manage the annual board giving campaign.
Strategize with the Advancement team to design, implement, and manage all individual and family
fundraising targets and activities, including strategic allocation of resources among appeals for

major gifts, planned giving, monthly giving, direct mail, corporate match and sponsorships.



Donor Cultivation:

Develop an individual donor pipeline and manage the organizations portfolio of prospective donor relationships, both personally, and through the CEO, Board of Directors, and teams at all levels.
Research and identify donor prospects and devise in-depth strategies to cultivate prospective donors, existing donors, foundations, and major donors.
Oversees direct response fundraising including direct mail, email marketing, donor acquisition, sustainer acquisition, and major donor communication.
Develop and launch a planned giving program which supports donors to participate.
Data Management

Enhance and create processes and systems in collaboration with the Advancement Vice President to support the development work plans; management of databases; and all record, file, and gift processing.
Ensure the maintenance of appropriate systems and databases for donor management, research and cultivation, gift processing, and donor recognition.
Develop and present reports and guidance to advance the success of stewardship and fundraising efforts to funders, CEO, Board of Directors, and Team members.


Success Metrics:

Establish annual performance measures and monitors results.
Maintain accountability and compliance standards for donors and funding sources;
ensure legal standards and development best practices are met.

Prepare and present reports to the VP of Advancement, CEO, and Board of Directors on progress toward established goals and objectives and provides comprehensive recommendations for strategies and successes.


Organizational Culture:

Fosters a culture of philanthropy across all programs and in keeping with organizational values, mission, vision, and plans.
Demonstrate initiative.
Coordinate enthusiastically and cooperatively with all teams to ensure that the goals of each department are met.
Adhere to all Code of Conduct standards and foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all staff, volunteers, patrons, and supporters.

Qualifications:

Evidence of commitment to the work of the non-profit sector;
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards in a diverse workplace;
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people;
5 to 10+ years of development experience, with a focus on major gifts, corporate sponsorship; solicitation, event planning, and/or individual donor solicitation;
Action-oriented, adaptable, and innovative in thinking and solutions approach.
An established track record of increasing philanthropic revenue.
Progressive experience in successful development programs and knowledge of "best practices" in development
Ability to set and achieve strategic objectives;
Excellent computer and research skills, with proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc
Superior written and verbal communication skills;
Access to reliable transportation and a valid drivers license
A criminal record check is required
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
