Responsible for providing cultural competent psychiatric evaluation, medication management, consultation, collaboration and training for adolescents, adults and their families with a myriad of complex issues to include behavioral health concerns, impoverishment, living with HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ, and other medical needs. Services provided for clients/families referred to Family Service of Rhode Island. Provide after hour support for assigned clients through the organization on call system.


Perform initial psychiatric evaluation routine and emergency.
Medication management.
Coordinate care through collaboration with providers internal and external to the organization.
Referrals to appropriate levels of care and services.
Provide short-term individual/group psychotherapy for assigned clients where indicated.
Participate in utilization management reviews.
Complete all required record documentation accurately and in compliance with all regulatory bodies both on paper and through an EMR.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Provide telephonic on call medication management support for assigned clients through agency staff participating in the afterhours on call system.
Coordination of care with primary care physician.
Secure medication for indigent clients.
Meets with agency psychiatrist and agency administrator on a regular basis.
Attend staff and other required meetings.
Attend all required trainings.
Staff training as assigned.
Provide medication management services in the community when indicated.


Current valid license to practice in Rhode Island.
Current DEA Certificate & Number.
Current Board certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Clinical Specialist in Adult and/or Child and Adolescent Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing, or as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
PCNS license preferred.
Cultural competency.
Bilingual skills preferred.
Computer knowledge for documentation in client records.
Valid Drivers license.


This position may require residential and community visits, employees in this position must have the ability to:

Travel to and from clients residence, community locations and office site, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.
Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to utilize a computer to complete documentation.
