ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for providing in-person trauma-informed crisis intervention services, clinical assessment, emergency screening and triage in partnership with the Providence Police. Rides along with law enforcement on patrol and responds on-scene to incidents involving children exposed to trauma and individuals in behavioral health crisis. May provide brief clinical treatment as a resource to victims and individuals with behavioral health challenges. Supports police in determining if victims are in need emergency psychiatric hospitalization and assists in determining level of risk.



SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Co-locates at the Providence Police Department/assigned district sub-station to respond to victims of crime and residents in need.

Completes ride-a-longs with Providence Police to be able to respond immediately to victims and individuals in crisis in the community.

Conducts emergency clinical assessments when victims or others showing behavioral health difficulties, suicide risk, and/or substance abuse concerns.

Engages with victims, individuals in crisis, and their families to create safety plans to ensure safety of all.

Connects victims and individuals in behavioral health crisis with additional services and referrals as needed.

Provides language assistance and psycho-education about the impact of trauma.

Assists with training of law enforcement and community about the impact of trauma.

Collaborates with community partners (i.e., DCYF, Schools, Hospitals, etc.) to ensure individual/family needs are met.

Accompanies victims for law enforcement and legal proceedings, forensic interviews, etc., as requested.

Acts as an advocate for victims.

Collects demographic and service data for those served and prepares narrative reports as required by funders, the PPD, and grant funding proposals.

Completes all professional and administrative documentation and forms in accordance with agency standards and within established guidelines and timeframes.

Represents FSRI and the Providence Police at various community events, conferences, and presentations.

Attends Healing Department and Victim Services Team meetings as scheduled.

Maintains appropriate standards of confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA and agency guidelines.

Participates on one FSRI agency-wide committee.

Participates in supervision, as scheduled.

Participates in professional development opportunities aligned with professional goals and position responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field preferred.

Independent license preferred (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, etc.) or actively working toward independent licensure

Experience working with law enforcement strongly preferred

Previous experience working with children, adults, and families in a clinical setting preferred, as well as knowledge of the impact of traumatic stress.

Excellent crisis management and intervention skills.

Experience with clinical trauma assessment, triage and community resources.

Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Possession of valid drivers license, reliable transportation and proof of current automobile insurance required.

Bilingual English/Spanish verbal and written required.

Ability to utilize a computer, the internet, and Electronic Medical Record to complete documentation.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and to take initiative and work collaboratively as part of a team.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position may require community visits, employees in this position must have the ability to:

Travel to and from community locations and office sites, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.

This position will require a combination of virtual, clinic- and community-based work, with approximately 60% of time spent in the community.
