Job Description

Position Summary: Work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team in a day program for children with mental health needs. Some duties include educational/behavioral data collection as required; Behavior management, crisis intervention with and on behalf of students; Participation in multidisciplinary treatment team; Collaborate with clinicians and other service providers to ensure student/family needs are being met; Provides student and family case management services; assist in student meal program. Ideal candidate has experience with children with challenging behaviors/autism, good knowledge of boundaries and experience in a school or pediatric hospital setting. Year-round position, school schedule.
Specific Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist teachers in daily instruction of specifically-assigned student(s)
Management of classroom grades, scores, student information, etc.
Participate in IEP preparation, creation, and implementation
Educational/behavioral data collection as required
Behavior management, crisis intervention with and on behalf of student
Participation in multidisciplinary treatment team
Participation in student/family assessments
Collaborate with clinicians and other service providers to ensure student/family needs are being met
Provides student and family case management services
Teach student/family self-advocacy skills
Build and maintain positive working relationships with community organizations and service providers
Schedule appointments with student/family based on students’ needs
Maintain confidentiality of student/family
Transport student/family as needed
Provide sensitivity to student/family cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic issues and diversity
Serve as a positive role model to student and colleagues
Maintain or exceed productivity expectations
Complete all professional and administrative documentation and forms in accordance with agency standards and within established guidelines and time frames
Participate in supervision and staff trainings/meetings as scheduled
Assist in the daily meal set-up/break-down for students, as well as other operational duties
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a human services field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Experience with ED/BD children required.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written required.
Good computer skills preferred.
Possession of a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance required.
Bilingual skills optional.
Bilingual skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.
Physical Requirements: This position requires residential and community visits, employees in this position must have the ability to:
Travel to and from students’ residence, community locations and office site, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Ability to communicate by voice, use sight and hearing
Ability to participate in physical crisis intervention with students as needed
