Position Summary: This role works with youth and young adults who are in the care and custody of the RI Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and living in a residential setting. These youth often have histories of trauma-reactive symptoms and mental health challenges. The Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for building and expanding community relationships, identifying programming and recreational activities, and coordinating these activities for youth in residential setting. The Community Engagement Specialist provides an environment that promotes the physical and mental well-being of each resident. Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) in the milieu setting.
Qualifications:
1-2 years of experience working with non-profits or in a similar role preferred.
Experience working with youth and young adults.
Proven networking and relationship-building skills.
Proven written, verbal and communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills including the ability to communicate with external stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; self-motivated, resourceful, and the ability to multi-task and be highly attentive to detail.
The position requires reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, registration, inspection and driving record.
Bilingual skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.
Physical Requirements: This position requires community visits, employees in this position must have the ability to:
Travel to and from community locations and residential site locations, which could include using walkways, stairs and/or elevators.
Ability to utilize a computer and Electronic Medical Record to complete documentation.
Ability to lift up to 20lbs.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to push or pull 10 lbs or more
Ability to pick up 10 lbs or more
